Western CVB Directors Travel East

The Dickinson Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau teamed up together to travel to eastern North Dakota on June 13th visiting local radio stations in Jamestown, Valley City, Fargo and Grand Forks, to talk about the increased hotel availability, affordable rates, lower vehicle traffic, and new events and attractions in western North Dakota.
Terri Thiel, Executive Director of the Dickinson CVB and Amy Kruger, Executive Director of the Williston CVB shared their stories of how western North Dakota has undergone change, improvement, and new choices for travelers.

Hotel FAM Tour

CVB sales coordinator, Julie Obrigewitsch, works actively to bring groups and conventions to Dickinson. This year she has hosted groups like the ND Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Strengthen ND, and the National Association of Royalty Owners, and has many class reunions and tournaments scheduled for this summer.
Julie recently took a group of Dickinson hotel staff to Medora, ND for a FAM tour. The group visited the Burning Hills Amphitheatre, The ND Cowboy hall of Fame, the Billings County Museum, and The TR National Park Visitor’s Center, and enjoyed lunch at the Little Missouri Saloon. The CVB continues to reach out to local hoteliers and their staff to inform them of the area attractions and activities.

Writers Coming to Western ND

The CVB hosted overnight stays for five travel writers in May and June.  The ND Tourism Division works to bring writers to various ND locations that result in media stories about various locations in the state.
  • Mr. Mario Ravaccia – Chief Editor FUORISTRADA magazine – Italy
  • Mrs. Giuseppina Concina – Journalist FUORISTRADA magazine – Italy
  • Connie Reed – Travel Blogger – Midwest Wanderer

Things to See and Do - Hotel Presentationserty.jpg

The CVB has been giving power point presentations on things to see and do in Dickinson and southwest North Dakota to educate frontline hotel staff.  The presentation primarily shows images of attractions and events while reinforcing the contact information for the CVB if travelers are asking questions that they cannot answer.
