American Legion Central Plains Regional Tournament Coming to Dickinson

americanlegionbaseball.jpgThe American Legion Central Plains Regional Tournament will take place in Dickinson at the Dakota Community Bank & Trust Ballpark on August 2-6.
 
Approximately 1954 attendees are expected per day during the tournament. The participating teams will be from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska.  Hosting the competition will be the Dickinson Baseball Club and the Dickinson Parks & Recreation. 
 
The event’s opening ceremonies will take place prior to game 4 on Wednesday, August 2 at approximately 7:15 p.m.
 
Since 1925, American Legion Baseball has taught hundreds of thousands of young Americans the importance of sportsmanship, good health and active citizenship.  American Legion Baseball enjoys a reputation as one of the most successful and tradition-rich amateur athletic leagues.  Today, the program registers over 5,400 teams in all 50 states, including Canada and Puerto Rico.  Almost 100,000 youths, ages 15 to 19, participate annually.  Since its inception, the league has had 10 million players, and nearly 75 percent of current college players are program graduates.
